Meeting Notes 12/8/10

-The location will be in front of the school.
-We will tear up cement in a jagged shape, so we can put soil and grass there for the sculpture and compost.
- incorporate the wind by having something spin in the wind
- make it easily understood by everyone, so not too abstract. Basic enough so people who aren't artist will understand.
- make it out of recycled materials.
-a compost that will decompose things and everyone can contribute too
-have one word or saying that represent the 21st century written all over the globe part in different languages (worldy) Possible words: Reuse, Reinvent
-The shape can be two hands holding a globe. The globe will be a skeleton with circular strips of metal.

Backup Idea:
-Boyant object attached to the floor of the retention pond that goes with  and enhances the major sculpture or attraction.

HERE COMES THE PLAN!! well, we'll decide if not.

Ok, my scanner wasn't working yesterday because of some virus or whatever, so, here is the plan that I thought out from you guys. We can still change it or come up with something else. I could not think of a plan on the TREES area, so I did nothing. laugh. Well, leave some interesting comments, BELOOOW.

JOEYS GREATYS IEADS

So I have an idea for the last site the concrete sight. We should use that one I believe, because being the plainest it has the most potential, just like a white canvas has potential to become anything we can think of. I have two ideas for that sight but both use the same concept. Both of my ideas have something breaking up through the concrete. So for one I was thinking of having a fist punching its way out of the ground and the other having the root of a tree breaking through the ground. The explanation behind my ideas is the first is symbolic to how in the 21 century we are breaking through with our ideas and advancements. And the root idea is the same concept as well. The root is from the tree and the tree is the tree of knowledge. This whole structure is the concept of our ideas in the 21 century are reaching a breaking point.

WACHHAAA!!!

WATTUP party people? I feel conflict of using metal or non metal in this project. I jotted down the ideas from you guys and I came up of some Ideas that we can use for our  sculpture. On the first site, the Lyceum I used Kara's idea to use water for the sculpture. Well water fountain are sooo five minutes ago. So, I came up with this (Look on top, you guys might not see it today, but tomorrow for sure.) Then the second location is pretty easy to make. On this sculpture, I used Kara's idea and Joe's idea, which is using mirror for a sculpture, squeezed and mashed it together and made this sculpture (Like the first one, check it out on top, but not today.) Guys, the last location is pretty hard. I need more Ideas people. So the only thing that I came up with is this (Again, tomorrow you can see the picture for sure on top.)

Brainstorming Ideas

Hey Group!
I think that we should incorporate all of these ideas into one massively amazing structure. It would be really cool to have a prism covered with mirrors at the top or center of our sculpture, so it would catch the ligh and reflect in all different directions, just like the 21st century is going in multiple directions, catching people off guard and blinding some. I also think it would be cool to incorporate the wind or water into our strcuture. Possibly making it move with the help of wind or water, and putting mirrors on the ends that move, so while they are moving they are catching light. I also think it would be cool if our sculpture was moving with help to the wind or water, and it was able to show multiple faces and perspectives. A person in the 21st century is multiple people, and I think we should convey that in some way with our sculpture. In addition, we could add Kyle's idea of rocks by using rocks for the base of the structure or middle of the structure to hold the prism. I think the structure should be very complex just like the 21st century is. We can show complexity by using multiple materials, intertwining them in certain ways, and having things overlap. I think we have a lot of great ideas, and I can't wait until we start putting them all together :) Keep up the great work Prism Perception!

Jenny's Ideas...I suppose

I think that the sculpture should be made of metal. Like Kara mentioned on the day that we got to see the different places we could set it, the metal would rust over time because of the rain and give it a really cool effect. It would sort of show that people get older but their purpose is the same. It shouldn't be too abstract to the point where people who don't like art are confused. It should semi-easily understood by everyone, like simple but you have to think to get there. As to how it's going to look, I really don't have much of an opinion on that so far. I think that will come in later after we've discussed more in detail what the 21st Century human is really about.

Kyle's Ideas

Hey guys,
I think the sculpture should be something concrete but abstract at the same time. I don't think it should be too big but not too small either. Right now, i'm thinking that the sculpture should be either metal or rock. When we observed the three sites, it seemed that the wind was a big topic we had. I think the wind should play a role with the sculpture. When we looked at the sculpture in class today, the lights played a role. The light should also be with the sculpture since when the sun sets, it will affect all three of the sites.
